I am getting to the point in the moving process where I am coming across things I forgot I had, like this collection of some of my participation trophies from playing sports as a kid. I am pretty sure that I will throw these away. (I don’t want to, but have no idea what to do with them.)
Also, I have stumbled across a few wrapped presents. I don’t know who they are for or what they are (they are probably books). If I owe you a present, or if you just want a present, let me know and I’ll send one to you.

My mom got me the nerdiest sweatshirt in the land for Christmas. I think I might wear it every day of this vacation. It has already acquired its first coffee stain.

My favorite beer (Southern Tier Pumpking) at my favorite bar (The Diamond) tapped especially for the fall equinox (fifteen minutes ago at 9:04am). Now they are also giving us pancakes. New contender for greatest morning of the year.

Last night was my first go at this fabulous nail treatment. Above, the results. It is purposefully blurryish because I made lots of little mistakes and don’t want you looking at my nails too closely. Looking forward to trying again in a week or so. Still pleased with them overall.
The book pictured is The Collected Stories of Deborah Eisenberg, which is fucking fantastic.
As for the nails: I dug through my recycling to find this article from the NYT about BEA to use as a transfer, thinking it would be nice to see book-related words winking up at me from my fingers—but they transfer on backwards, so it actually doesn’t matter what you pick. Oh well!

I like the immediacy and functionality of food shaped to post into the mouth.

from The Best Sandwich Ever? which is possibly the Best Headline Ever. It is sentences like these that make me wish I would make good on my continuous threats to start a tumblr called Things I Would Embroider On A Pillow If I Knew How To Embroider.

See also: “But for me the sandwich is also something altogether more serious.”
