Addie does not find your copious footnoting amusing.
Infinite Jest, David Foster Wallace.
(submitted by L. P.)
Reblogging my own blog to submit further proof of something I have long suspected, which is that all cats hate David Foster Wallace, for reasons I am probably too stupid to understand.

This is a beautiful hand-painted postcard that arrived from Community Bookstore in Park Slope. I got it because I sent them postcard of their own (though I did not make it by hand, so they really got the bum’s end of that exchange) because they asked for postcards on their Facebook page. It is a picture of their store cat, Tiny, who, I do not know if you can tell by this picture, is not actually tiny at all. It’s one of the nicest things I’ve ever gotten in the mail.
Plus, it was mailed with a Katherine Anne Porter stamp! Where do I get that stamp?

Have been meaning to post something about this for awhile, but The Cat Bill That Would Have Eaten My Savings Account If I Had One has made it a necessity.
So. In case you were not aware:
I am a bookseller by day, and also occasionally by night, and then on my days off, I’m a freelance editor. I’m most experienced with, of all things, academic writing, especially theses, but I’ve owned my own set of style guides since tenth grade, so I’ll edit just about anything. And not just copyediting—-I’m also very fond of helping out with structural edits, or even at the beginning of the writing process to set up an outline, etc.
I actually love editing more than almost anything else (sorry, bookselling). Like, watermelon-and-donuts-and-a-Robert-Downey-Jr.-movie levels of happy. I have a whole box of green pens just for editing! They are the greatest pens.
My rates are reasonable, especially if I like you. References available, natch.
And now I post this and look forward to noticing the inevitable typos on a blog post asking people to hire me to edit their work.
ETA: Um, duh, left out something v important. If you want to hire me, contact me at iambookavore at gmail.
